For many girls, having access to sanitary pads is an important part of being able to manage menstruation with dignity and confidence. But access to menstrual products is only one part of the solution.
Menstrual health education, practical guidance, encouragement, and continued support are equally important.
Easy Group recently visited MOC School in Kibra, where our team met with 26 girls for a menstrual health outreach focused on education, sanitary pad use, hygiene, confidence, and personal wellbeing.
The day combined practical menstrual health education with an opportunity for the students to interact with members of the Easy Group team, including former MOC students who have since grown into adults and joined the workforce.
The experience was a reminder of what can happen when young people are given support, encouragement, and opportunities to believe in their future.
Menstrual Health Education for Girls
One of the main objectives of the visit was to provide the girls with practical menstrual health education.
The session created an opportunity for the students to learn more about menstruation and how to manage their periods safely and confidently.
The Easy Group team also provided education on how to use sanitary pads correctly, helping the girls understand proper pad use and menstrual hygiene.
Rather than simply distributing sanitary products, we believe it is important to ensure that girls have the knowledge and confidence to use them effectively.
Practical Education That Builds Confidence
Menstrual health education can help create an environment where girls feel more comfortable asking questions and discussing issues related to menstruation.
During the session, the girls were able to participate, learn, and engage with the team in an open environment.
For Easy Group, these conversations are part of creating healthier and more empowered communities.
Providing Sanitary Pads to 26 Girls at MOC School
Alongside the educational session, Easy Group provided sanitary pads to the 26 girls who participated in the outreach.
Access to menstrual products is an important part of supporting girls’ menstrual health and dignity.
For girls who may face difficulties accessing sanitary pads, consistent support can make managing their periods easier and reduce one of the challenges that can affect their everyday lives and education.
Our approach is not limited to a single distribution exercise.
Easy Group is also providing sanitary pads to MOC School on a monthly basis to support the girls on an ongoing basis.
This monthly support is intended to provide greater consistency and ensure that menstrual health support continues beyond the day of the outreach.
From MOC Students to Working Professionals
One of the most meaningful parts of the visit was seeing former MOC students return to the school as adults.
Some of the MOC alumni are now working members of the Easy Group team, and they had the opportunity to speak with and motivate the current students.
Their presence gave the girls something particularly powerful: people they could look at and see what their own future could look like.
These former students were once sitting in the same school, learning and preparing for their futures. Today, they are adults, working, and contributing to their communities.
Their interaction with the students reinforced an important message:
Your current circumstances do not have to determine your future.
Through their experiences and encouragement, the alumni were able to motivate the girls to take their education seriously, believe in themselves, and remain focused on their goals.
More Than Sanitary Pads: Creating Opportunity Through Community
At Easy Group, we believe community development goes beyond providing immediate assistance.
Supporting girls with sanitary pads is important, but so is creating opportunities for them to gain knowledge, build confidence, remain focused on their education, and see positive examples within their own communities.
The MOC School outreach brought these elements together:
- Menstrual health education
- Practical guidance on sanitary pad use
- Sanitary pad distribution
- Ongoing monthly pad support
- Encouragement and motivation
- Connection with MOC alumni
- Community engagement
Each of these contributes to a broader goal of empowering young people and strengthening communities.
Continuing Our Monthly Support at MOC School
The visit to MOC School was not intended to be a one-time activity.
Easy Group is continuing to provide sanitary pads to the school every month for the girls.
This ongoing support is an important part of our commitment to menstrual health and dignity.
By maintaining regular support, we hope to contribute to a school environment where girls can manage their periods with greater confidence and access to the basic menstrual hygiene products they need.
Our commitment also reflects a wider belief at Easy Group: sustainable community impact requires more than a single day of activity.
It requires showing up consistently and building relationships with the communities we serve.
Empowering Girls Through Education, Dignity and Opportunity
The MOC School outreach in Kibra represents the kind of community work Easy Group is committed to supporting across Kenya.
Through initiatives focused on health and dignity, education, youth empowerment, and community development, we want to help create environments where individuals have the knowledge, support, and opportunities they need to thrive.
Our menstrual health work is one part of this wider commitment.
When a girl has access to sanitary products, understands how to manage her menstrual health, feels confident asking questions, and sees people from her own community succeeding, she is better positioned to approach her future with confidence.
Every girl deserves dignity. Every girl deserves an opportunity to learn. And every girl deserves to believe that she can build a better future.
